Free Yoga Exercises Knowledge Base
Does anyone know of any websites where there is free Yoga exercises? I'm new to yoga. Particularly Namaste and would like to know if there are any websites that are free that show how to do the positions. Please help me! No ipod ones please. I'm sorry but I don't own an ipod. Wish I had one, but can't afford it. Thanks anyway to the first person that answered.
Could you test if the videos on Yoga Today works for you? For a few months I did yoga exercises regularly using the free videos on http://www.yogatoday.com/. Lately the videos do not work for me (the player window come up empty), the maintainers don't answer my questions and there isn't any sign on the site if things shouldn't work. I suspect they don't provide the videos for the whole world anymore. I'm trying it from Hungary, Europe. Could you try it from your location (just got to the site and click on the video to see if it works), so that I know if it's a local problem in my area? Thanks. I installed Flash and Quicktime (I think it uses the former), but it still doesn't work. It tries to connect to the server then it gives up. I see it's working for some of you and it doesn't for others. Could all of you state your location, so that we can compare whether the problem and success is location specific? Thanks. I unistalled Flash completely and installed it again. Youtube works, so Flash is OK. I have the latest browsers and I tried 3 of them (IE, Firefox, Opera), but none of them worked with Yoga Today. There is a message in the player saying "connecting to brightcove.com..." and after a while it says the video is unavailable. That's why I think it's not available in all regions anymore. It works in the USA and in the UK according to the answers, so the question is if it works for anyone else in rest of Europe (not UK) or in other parts of the world.
What is the difference between yoga and pilates? I really know nothing of the two other than that they are similar in some ways and different in others. I would like to have some sort of exercise I can do at home since I won't have as much free time to go to the gym anymore. I would like to do exercises that tone my body overall. Gaining strength would be nice but it's not as important. I've heard that yoga is more about stress release and meditation but can it also be used as a workout? Thanks for the help!

i need to lose 50 pounds in 6 months. I hate exercise (gyms) and diet food. Is there hope for me? I've tried many different approaches, and I'm at the point where Im sooo confused and frustrated! If anyone has achieved a successful weight loss, in a reasonable time, PLEASE let me know. I love to walk, and would be into trying yoga, and free weights... but I hate going to sweaty gyms. As far as food - I love sushi, peanut butter, fruit, veggies, pasta, seafood, rice, and chicken. Oh, yes, some dark chocolate is good too. I don't drink (alcohol) and stay away from soda and diet drinks. I know water is a good thing, but have trouble drinking 100 ounces a day, but will do it if it is neccesary for weight loss. Thanks for your help!
Will this help me lose weight and how much will I lose? 30 mins per day on WiiFit (yoga, balancing exercises etc) 30 mins doing a cheerleading cardio workout Breakfast - fat free yogurt, low fat muesli, piece of fruit, coffee with splash of milk Snack - piece of fruit Lunch - sandwich with 2 slices of wholegrain bread, lean meat (ham, beef, turkey etc), lettuce, cucumber, 1teaspoon mustard and 6 cherry tomatoes Snack - Piece of fruit Dinner - Lean meat, carbs of some sort (wholegrain rice, wholegrain pasta, jacket potato...) with either salad or steamed veg Drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day plus peppermint tea and green tea. How much weight will I lose doing this, and how quickly will it come off? Cheers :o) xxx
Do you know what are your bad habits using the horoscope?? Aries Out in Front Rams have a habit of pushing to the front of the line, both literally and figuratively. And while this quality has helped Aries get ahead, it can also compromise their relationships. Putting an animal, child or plant in their care can correct the problem. As soon as this sign's nurturing qualities are cultivated, their selfishness will diminish. • Taurean Trash Bulls love clutter. Being surrounded by all their possessions gives them a sense of security. It also creates headaches, confusion, and chaos. Storage systems that keep their stuff on display will prevent this sign from strewing their stuff all over the house. Stacking baskets, glass jars, and open shelving can promote organization. • Nerve-Wracking Twins Geminis are the nail-biters of the zodiac. Twins are self-conscious about their hands, and need to keep them busy at all times. Activities like knitting, carving, or bead work provide welcome distractions. Weekly manicures will also keep temptation at bay. Twins are less likely to gnaw their cuticles when they've just paid for their upkeep! • Cancers and the Candyman If you've ever wondered how Cancers stay so sweet, take a look at their sugar intake. This sign loves cookies, candy, and ice cream. An occasional indulgence is fine, but too much dessert can take a toll on waist lines and energy levels. What Crabs are really seeking is oral gratification. Sugar-free gum or dried fruit provides a healthy distraction from candy crunching. • Lavish Leos The guy who's sitting next to you in the elegant restaurant, shouting to his personal assistant on his cell phone? Probably a Leo. It's only natural that a sign that is blessed with creativity, charm and wit feels tempted to show off. Actually, this desire to brag is rooted in insecurity. The sooner Lions learn to compliment others, the quicker they'll receive the praise they crave. • Virgos Fear Filth These nit-pickers sometimes compromise their own pleasure for the sake of perfection. Deep down inside, these folks are really sensualists at heart. They need to learn that it is better to feel good than to look good. Allocating a few minutes each day for fun but messy activities like baking, painting, or sculpting can cure Virgos of their fear of filth. • Libras Love to Shop Librans gave birth to the term "shopaholic". These folks have every credit card known to man. And while their taste is undeniably impeccable, it can get them in trouble at bankruptcy court. What's really at stake here is a quest for beauty. Enjoying simple but inexpensive pleasures like nature walks and museums can quell the urge to splurge. • Strictly Scorpios Nobody carries a grudge better than this sign. Unfortunately, hanging on to resentments has a way of crowding out love, happiness, and trust. In order for a Scorpio to let go of anger, they must first practice self-care. Getting a massage every month or writing in a journal each day will soften this sign's heart and enable forgiveness. • Brutally Honest Sagittarius Archers have a bad habit of telling the truth. And while these folks have the best intentions, that doesn't take the sting out of comments like, "Gee, those pants make you look fat!" or "Were you drunk when you wrote this report?" The best way for Archers to cultivate tact is through prodigious study. Etiquette books will definitely help! • Capricorns Can't Quit This sign is the original workaholic. Many Capricorns fear that poverty will set in the moment they stop toiling. Keeping a gratitude journal can break this terrible habit. The more Capricorn becomes aware of their non-material blessings, the healthier their behavior will become. No more cutting vacations short for the sake of work! • Antisocial Aquarius Water-bearers get into the habit of creating completely self-sufficient lives. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult for them to achieve intimacy. Basically, Aquarians are afraid that relationships will compromise their independence. Fortunately, these folks love to experiment. By treating intimacy as an exercise, this sign can relinquish control for the sake of loving relationships. • Pickled Pisces As a water sign, it's only natural that Pisceans find comfort in liquids. When those liquids have a high alcohol content, problems can ensue. Naturally, a twelve-step program can be of enormous benefit here. Meditation and yoga can help, too, as they allow Pisces to achieve a healthy sense of nirvana. That's all these Fish are really seeking.
I have decided to eat healthy and exercise. Following is my exercise schedule in the week (5 days)? I am 23 years old male, 5'11 tall weight 220 lbs. Obviously overweight and in serious need to loose weight. Mondays - 60 minutes of high energy cardio conditioning workout that includes running, plyometrics, push-ups, core strength etc. Tuesdays - 45 minutes of a strong workout with cycling intervals. Wednesdays - 60 minutes of traditional yoga Thursdays - 60 minutes of cardio again (repeat from Monday) Sundays - 60 minutes of high energy cardiovascular training class that combines moves from a range of martial arts disciplines. In addition to these classes, I also spend time after each class with free weights - about 15 minutes to increase my arm strength. I have also made the following changes in my diet: 1. Whole wheat bread instead of white bread 2. Brown rice instead of white rice 3. Whote wheat pasta instead of regular pasta 4. Fat free mayonnaise and cooking oil/grease etc. What results can I expect and when? Please advice if Im doing something wrong or more is needed Thanks for the advice everyone. I really dont mind spending an hour in the gym everyday, so that's why I'm giving it a shot. It's really not that difficult when you're in the company of good instructors and at least 10 others like you. About eating between meals, I try not to do that. If I feel hungry I try to eat fruit like a banana or an apple. Also, how many slices of whole wheat bread can I have in a day without it being bad for my health? Lastly, I dont expect results immediately but I would definitely like to see a change in myself over a period of 4-6 months. Keeping a check of my weight right now is not easy as I dread getting on the scale :-(
exercise/fitness people? Hi, im trying to put a home exercise routine together... im starting with stretching so any recommendations would be good but im currently doing ones i got from golf...torso lift, recumbent chest and spine and hip rotation... Then im doing crunchs, twisted crunchs and push-ups.. But right now i want to improve core strength and flexability... im trying to incorporate, pilates and yoga..i know it sounds girly but i suffered with various back pains from work one really bad one which stretched to my leg so anything that can help is welcomed.... so im trying to figure out which order i should but all of these in...how many or how much time on each...and everyday or every other day.... its a long question but any info would be great and feel free to suggest other exercises...thanks in advance
Best exercise and diet for me? I am 17. I weigh 125 pounds and I am 5'4. I am a vegetarian, and lactose intolerant, I rarely eat any form of animal products, though I am not strictly vegan. There is not much I can do to limit my food intake any more except cut back on calories. This creates a problem because I usually become incredibly hungry and turn to junk food as a quick fix. Currently I have fruit for breakfast, vegetables for lunch and more vegetables paired with something whole wheat for dinner. It is very rare I eat any sort of junk food, and I do not drink anything but water and caffeine free tea. I do yoga twice a week, and I find it hard to get motivated to do other kinds of exercise, however I am want to lose 10-15 pounds. Any kind of advice about how often, how much, and what kind of exercise I should do would be fantastic. I would mostly like to lose weight around my thighs. Thank you for your consideration and time. Have a good day.

Edit my speech please?! I would reeealllly appriciate a thurough answer! Ten points to best answer! Thanks!!!! Here is my speech. If you could post it after editing I would really appreciate it. It is supposed to be less than 5 min long, and I’m not sure what to get rid of. Sorry, it is REALLY bad! The more details the better! Also, please leave any suggestions you may have for me to improve it! Feel free to write right on the speech! (or you can just put comments at the end, anything works!! Thanks SOO MUCH! (Pretends to be bowling with Wii remote) YES! Strike! (Takes another shot) Aww... gutter ball! I just love my Nintendo Wii, but should it be replacing my phys. ed. classes at school? Yes, it is an insane idea, and five schools in Worcestershire, England are getting mixed reviews on their new program that incorporates the Nintendo Wii into their curriculum. The program may have won a national sports award, but several people disagree with the idea. Good afternoon (teachers name) and my fellow classmates. I am here today to speak to you about why the Nintendo Wii should not be incorporated in North America’s physical education curriculum. For those of you who are unaware of, or do not completely understand the concept of the Wii, it is basically a gaming system, like the GameCube, or the Xbox, but with a twist. Instead of controlling characters on the screen by merely pressing buttons on a controller, you actually have to move the remote, and the character on the screen will follow your movements. For example, in some games, the action required to make your character jump is to quickly flick the remote upwards. A game that is very popular on the Wii is Wii Sports. On it you can play five different sports: bowling, baseball, boxing, golfing, and tennis. You play these by mimicking the movements made while playing one of these sports in real life. Now, I am certain that several of you are pondering this question, “Why would this gaming system be part of a schools physical education program?” Good question! How exactly is a game, where all one is required to do is to quickly flip their hand upwards or to the side, going to give kids the amount of physical activity they need in a day? Guess what? ITS NOT! A study done by University students in Halifax shows that the Nintendo Wii fails as a decent form of cardiovascular exercise. The game playing is just not intense enough, and the workout you get is being compared to talking a walk through a park. Now, what is happening when these systems are being put into schools programs? Chelsea Intermediate School has purchased seven of these systems, twenty-eight controllers, and Wii Sports. The entire school has access to them, but gym classes take priority. So, depending on the size of classes in that school, some students may need to wait for a turn on the Wii, wasting time that could be spent doing effective physical activities. For example, if there is a large class of 35 students, 7 students will be sitting, being inactive, while they wait to play on the video game. Another issue is that each Wii system costs approximately $250, not including all the controllers. So, for a school to buy 28 Wii systems, without controllers or tax, it would cost about $7,000! That’s a lot of money for a school to spend on video games! Now, I would like to speak to you about a new system for the Wii coming to North America in late May, called Wii Fit. It is a program that uses a platform called the Wii Balance Board. This board can weigh the user, tell them where their centre of gravity is exactly, and what their body mass index is. This game has about 40 different activities, including step dancing, skiing, yoga, pushups, and other exercises. This program also includes a virtual personal trainer. On May 21st, it will be available in Canada for $89.99. Wii Fit is a much better option for a workout than Wii sports. It requires the whole body to do the activities, and is a lot more physical. Instead of just flicking your wrist, you may be required to squat down as low as you possibly can, without losing your balance, then jump up as fast as you can, to gain a good jump while playing skiing. Wii Fit actually affects your body and will give you a good workout. But does that mean it should be being used in schools? When kids have the option of running around outside in fresh air, or standing inside on a board, staring at a TV screen, which sounds better? When playing sports on the Wii, instead if with actual people, you don’t get the opportunity to learn lessons such as ones about working as a team. You don’t get to play with your friends, you don’t get to breath in fresh air, and you don’t get to feel the competitive aspect of sports. Some may argue that competitiveness ruins students gym class experience, but in small doses, it can be beneficial, and also teach some life lessons. I have one last small, but important, point that I would like to make. When Wii Fit was released in Japan, the Balance Board had a weight limit of 300 pounds. There are rumors that when Wii Fit is released in North America, the Board will have a higher weight limit, for heavier users here. This says several things, whether it is just a rumor or not. If North America’s population is more overweight and unfit than the rest of the world, than we shouldn’t be inside saying we are getting exercise by staring at a TV screen and flicking our wrists. Perhaps using the Wii for physical activities in the comfort of your own home isn’t such a bad idea, but it is a video game. And where do video games belong? At home! Not in schools! I hope today that I have convinced you that a phys ed. program incorporating the Nintendo Wii should not be coming to North America. 17 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer.

A new religion - early bird special available.? I am thinking of declaring myself the latest prophet (I am willing to call myself Avtar also), accepting Jesus, Mohamed, Buddha and Marx. My book will be named 'Das Quible'. I will claim having received God's message at a Tai-chi *** Yoga exercise held in a factory campus (I need to include Chinese and Indians and socialist also). My religion will ban idols but followers will be free to keep all deities just for their 'reverence'. I will offer all material benefits to disciples here as well as in heaven. At the moment, I am writing a good story of my 'persecution' having taken place say in a cave in Central Park, looking for a venture capitalist to bankroll my campaign and for some small and obscure country to become my first disciples. That financier or that country ruler can become the next 'guru' of my religion after me, well that we can fight out amongst ourselves. What are chances of this 'New, Improved and Ultimate Religion', did you heard this story before ? Grits, you have called me dime a dozen ? Don't you realize that I am declaring myself the only true one and all others as 'false'. I know those others will also be doing the same thing to me but this the fun of this power game. And about prophecies ? My prophecies are never going to be wrong 'cause I am using 'you will not die till you are alive' kind of language. Still not convinced about my religion ? Newshine, I am also sorry for the whole mankind which has been put to so much problems due to existence of these many religions and their quarrels. What more damage one more religion could bring in ? Let me be in race.
exercises for the chest? What are the best exercises for a woman to increase her cleavage and keep her chest firm? (specific types of yoga, pilates, and free weight lifting examples would be useful!!!)
Is not Archbishop Pascal Topno of Bhopal the arch-enemy of India and the Hindus? It is true that “pranayam,” the control of breath and several main yogasanas, is the main component of Yoga. This gives better health for all, as has been proved through the world. Why is this Catholic priest against Yoga? Is it because it's been developed, over centuries, by the Hindus? Why is he opposed to children getting better health for free? If Yoga is just a Hindu religious practice why is it so popular even in the West? Why do millions of Christians (commonly called 'sun-worshippers') go on annual 'pilgimages' (some more often) to sunny beaches? Is this practice going to be opposed by Archbishop Pascal Topno of Bhopal? What is the hidden agenda of Archbishop Pascal Topno of Bhopal? To stop the Catholic children of India from exercising and being healthy free of charge? Is not Archbishop Pascal Topno of Bhopal in collusion with the MNCs who are the purveyours of ill heath all over the world? Is not the West too fighting a losing battle against junk food? 'shaybani_yusuf' needs to remember that India was a Hindu country before the invasion of the Islamic hoards and the Christian missionaries. If a host practices tolerance to the degree of allowing you to use his house freely as possible does the house then become yours? Have you attempted entering Saudi Arabia with a copy of the Bible with you? Have you heard of a Hindu in Italy speak out against the orders from the Vatican? Has anyone from the Catholic Church ever been incorrect about a belief system? Was it not Pope Clement VIII who ordered that Giordano Bruno be burned at the stake on 17 February 1600 for his defence of the Copernican system of astronomy? Bruno believed, as is now universally accepted, that the Earth revolves round the Sun. How fatal is any practice of Yoga compared to the practices, advocated daily all over the world by the Islamic extremists, of suicide bombings? It would be some achievement if 'Dee' followed his own advise. The Spanish Conquistadors wiped out the Aztec and Inca Empires of the Americas. 60,000 tons of silver was looted. Hernán Cortés & Francisco Pizarro were Both were helped by smallpox and other European plagues that weakened the native populations, for these diseases were unknown in America at the time of the Spanish arrival and the native populations lacked the antibodies to fight them. A prime example of insult to injury from the Christian history. Kindly find a similar example from The Hindu history where the Hindus were the vanquishers?
I am also thinking of starting a new religion ? I am thinking of declaring myself the latest prophet (I am willing to call myself Avtar also), accepting Jesus, Mohamed, Buddha and Marx. My book will be named 'Das Quible'. I will claim having received God's message at a Tai-chi cum Yoga exercise held in a factory campus (I need to include Chinese and Indians and socialist also). That financier or that country ruler can become the next 'guru' of my religion after me, well that we can fight out amongst ourselves. What are chances of this 'New, Improved and Ultimate Religion', don't say you have heard this story before.

I was thinking about diet pills with some light exericse like yoga but I just don't know which pills are safest and most effective. I also dont have a lot of free time because I am busy with school work and clubs. I don't know how to eat well, especially at school where 99% of the food is processed and filled with trans fats, which I heard are really bad for you. Can anyone help?

Should I join the gym I work at? What types of exercises would be best if I do join? I am desperately out of shape and I work at an athletic club. The membership costs 87.13 per month (I'm going to try and score a discount with my boss), and it comes with free classes like: +step +pilates +yoga +spinning +water aerobics +body shaping and then I can use the pool, cardio, weight rooms, and tennis courts, etc. I can also get a discounted price on the classes that have fees. Does that seem like a good deal? The thing is, I've never been to a gym, I really don't know how to work out, or what I would do. I'm sure once I figured it out I would be fine...do you have any suggestions for a beginner, like as far as exercise is concerned? Plus, what kind of shoes should I get? (I was just thinking athletic shoes, but they have all sorts of different kinds like "cross trainers" (what are those?) So yeah, I guess that's really four questions in one...if you answer all of them (the best) I'll pick your answer as the best answer :)
I have Pancreatitis. ERCP says Pancreatic Stone may have formed. are there permanent solution (treatment)? I am 21 years old. Pancreatic was found when I was 15 years old. Addiction: Alcohol : NO Smoking : Moderate The reason of my Pancreatitis is, Abnormality of Pancreatic Duct. the Radius of Pancreatic duct was smaller than normal of my age. So, Doctors did Stenting + ERCP.(3 years before than now.) It, gave better result than before. but after 2 years I have faced recurrent Pancreatic attacks. I have been prescribed ERCP and did it few days ago. Doctors said Pancreatic stone may have formed. So, I ask, whether I can come out of this irritating disease??? If any one kindly give some suggestions and diagnosis, It will be very much helpful for me. * one thing I have noticed, that during exam time (if exams are one after another, for about 4-5 months long), then due to the long period of tension and stress, I usually face Pancreatitis. I have faced almost 10 times in 6 years. 8-9 of them were during exam time. ** after stenting the Intensity of pain has been Reduced, no doubt. *** I felt that, 20-30 min exercise (free hand or Yoga), is very much helpful. (though I can not continue it regularly).
Which one of the following kinds of yoga (in details) would be best for my lower back pain? I have a herniated disc and it's been suggested to me by many doctors that because I am only 27 years old, I should not have surgery (which costs about $50K anyway). I have had a lot of luck with my chiropractor and actually haven't seen him since April of 2007, because I have been virtually free of pain. Unfortunately, lately, my lower back pain has been getting worse. I always heard that sleeping on the floor was good for your back, so I've been sleeping on a thin layer of foam. I think that is the problem since I am not currently doing any back exercises. I know I need a stronger core too. Here is the list of different kinds of yoga I found: Ananda Anusara Ashtanga Bikram Integral Iyengar Kali Ray TriYoga Kripalu Kundalini Sivananda Svaroopa Yoga Viniyoga So which one would be the best for strengthening my back without hurting it more. Also, I'd like to do a kind of yoga that incorporates a lot of meditation into it. I've always wanted to learn how to meditate ... ... because I have a very busy mind. I'm on medication for my anxiety, but it doesn't always help when I need to be calm and collected the most. Thank you.
How do you market something that people have not even heard of or understand? We are trying to make a campaign and invite people to this free seminar that introduces people to the world of qi gong (chi kung). It is a form of exercise, similar to the concept of yoga, that allows people to maintain their overall health and have a self-healing effect. To me, I think 99% of the public haven't even heard about it. How can I make the campaign/ad appealing to people so they would listen to a qi gong master talk for 2 hours? We do not want to plunk down a lot of money and find out only 10 people will show up at the free seminar. Any constructive suggestion would be great!
