What is the best yoga mat? I live in a house with cold, hard tile floors and I'm looking for a comfortable and somewhat padded mat. All the ones I've seen seem very flimsy and non-protecting of sensitive bones. I don't need something that's highly portable. I'm a beginning yoga practicioner.
What is the best yoga mat available.? I just started doing aerobics and a fitness/workout DVD and I'm finding it way too hard on my knees and elbows to do it on the carpet...not to mention slipping like crazy. Which is the best eco yoga mat? I'm thinking of getting the yoga-mad tree-mat but can anyone recommend any others? This one looks the best but at 4mm thick I think it may be a bit too thin. I'll be using it for sit ups too because my spine digs into the floor too much so I think I may need something thicker. I'm in the UK by the way.
What is the best yoga mat out there? I have been through two mats so far....the first was a thicker mat from Gaiam that was thick but it was also slippery. The second was from Gaiam and it was a natural jute material. Unfortunately this one started to disintegrate after a while and was entirely too thin. I was thinking about another one from Gaiam....just kidding....I'm ready to switch brands. What do you suggest?
What is the best way to clean a yoga mat? Preferably without dry cleaning...? I am not sure of the best way to clean a yoga mat. The one I have has acquired a bit of nasty smells accordingly. I wonder if you can just soak it in mild soap and wring it out, or if that might mess it up ? (it is that weird tacky foam-type material)

How do I prevent slipping on my yoga mat when my palms get sweaty? When I do "downward facing dog" my palms get clamy & sometimes sweaty. It's hard to relax into the pose when my palms start to slip. I've tried using my partner's mat & get the same problem whereas he does not. I've asked yoga teachers & the only thing they seem to suggest is putting my sticky mat out in the sun or giving it another scrub. But, the mat is adequately sticky otherwise. I've tried sprinkling a little talc powder on my palms & that helps a little temporarily. I wonder if a mat made out of a different, perhaps natural material would work. I saw some on healthandyoga.com made from woven grass or cotton yarn. The yarn mat claims to absorb sweat & the grass looks like it might have better tracton when my palms get sweaty. It doesn't look like it would get slick when moist unlike the standard latex sticky mats. Does anyone have experience with other types of mats or have any advice for me? Any exp. w/ natural rubber mats? I've tried a product called "yoga paws" from Gaiam. It helped the first time that I used it and for once I felt rather firm and stable. It was great! But, after that it seems that I will just start to slip inside the gloves! Arrggg!!! It's not a matter of pushing too much as one user seemed to suggest. My palms are clamy as I start and I can't get very far into it at all before I start to slip. I'm not doing power yoga or anything intense that works up a sweat. It's just that I have palms that sweat easily I guess and naturally have more oils in them, I suppose.

help with workout/diet ...? in the last month,i must admit,ive gotten fat.ive gone from 106lbs to 128lbs,and my waist size has gone from 24" 1/2 to 28"1/2 - 29" . none of my clothes fit me anymore,and im absolutely disgusted with myself.I want to lose this extra weight for myself,for my health,and for extra incentive,im going to mexico on april 1st and want to look my best in a swimsuit. unfortunately, i have no idea how to lose this weight.i cant do jogging/running because i have a breathing problem,i cant swim because i just recently got my eyebrow pierced,and as i live out in the middle of nowhere and the roads arent plowed and i live in Canada,its not like i can just go out for a walk.can someone please help me put together a routine that will help me lose the most fat/inches and tone up as much as possible before april?the only equiptment i can use is a yoga mat,an excersise ball,two five pound dumbells and a rubber pull excersizer thing,like you stand on the band and pull the handles for strenght training.. also,what kind of foods should i eat,what should i stay away from,ect?im a vegan,so i dont eat anything with animal products in it,but i tend to overload on carbs alot of the time... thaanks in advance!

Is my yoga mat supposed to be slippery when I sweat? I bought a yoga mat today and I'm fairly new to doing it. I went to a class tonight and it was really hot and I was sweating (but not insanely sweating) and my mat was so slippery that I couldn't even do downward dog after about 20minutes 'cause I kept slipping.
